Honoring my lunar return

Over a 27 or so day cycle, La Luna moves through each of the 12 zodiac signs. This pathway makes the moon cycles a beautiful way to get to feel into each of the archetypes. present in the signs. Each moment is different, of course, flavored by the Sun’s position and the other planets, but the frequency gives us the opportunity to get grounded in patterns.

My natal moon (the position of my moon when I was born) is in Libra, which makes today my lunar return. I looked to my teachers for some inspiration on what to notice today and how to honor this moment. A Libra moon is known as “stylish + harmonious,” two qualities I aspire to in my life and especially in 2023. They are also two qualities that feel more out of reach as I battle a cold and exhaustion after a busy few weeks.

And so today I am honoring my lunar return in the most gently harmonious ways I can imagine:

  • A slow, endurance bike ride. Keeping my heart rate and output levels in the endurance zone makes the movement restorative. My body wants to move after two days of rest and this feels so supportive.

  • Getting dressed in something luxurious. I chose a soft and beautiful sweater in white to honor the moon. I did my hair and put on a little mascara. Feeling beautiful is an inside job, but the outside trimmings helped today.

  • Cleaning out my bedside drawer. A little organization hangover from yesterday’s Virgo moon, but for me (Virgo Rising and North Node), my physical environment has a deep impact on my energy. It felt a little indulgent to take a few minutes and set up my bedside for a sweet evening routine.

Living by the moon can absolutely be full of moon rituals and gathering under the night sky. La Luna’s energy can also light the way for small pleasures to feel into the energy of the cosmic weather and learn to support ourselves in the ways that feel most beautiful to us.

How do you honor the Moon’s placement in your life?
